Women’s adidas Originals
The three stripes on both sides of adidas sweatshirts, trousers, and sneakers are the hallmark of the German company worldwide. But it’s more than a sports fashion brand: it’s a symbol for streetwear culture lovers. Today, everybody knows the adidas logo but not its history, which dates back many years.
A little bit of history
adidas Originals was born around the 1920s, when Adolf Dassler, known as Adi, founded the Gebruder Dassler Shunfabrik in partnership with his brother Rudolf. Adi’s mission was to realize some sneakers that guarantee athletes the best comfort and protection from accidents. These shoes had to be different from those in vogue at that time. So, he created cleated sneakers with two stripes on both sides that the famous athlete Lina Radke wore during her performances at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Thanks to these shoes, she won a well-deserved gold medal. After the Second World War, the Dassler brothers went their separate ways, and Rudolf founded RuDa, his company. Over the years, he changed its name in the famous PUMA. At the same time, Adi’s activity didn’t stop, becoming adidas: this name is the mix between Adi, his nickname, and Das, the first three letters of his surname.
From the stripes to the current logo
The adidas logo, as we know it today, was created only in 1996, after many troubles. The stripes represent three lines of different heights: they suggest an uphill road and symbolize the challenges every athlete must face to push their limits.
Sneakers adidas Originals Superstar
The adidas Originals Superstar is an icon of style that gives a refined touch to the foot. Its sporty charm isn’t going unnoticed for over 50 years. The Superstars guarantee a trendy and relaxed look, from a basketball court to the city centre streets, from the catwalks to a fun party. The true protagonist of the Superstar model is the shell toe, which history dates back to the 70s as an NBA star. Since the 80s, everybody started to wear this model at every moment of their life, becoming an icon of streetwear worldwide. Superstars offer great comfort and protect the foot in any activity, like all adidas models. Thanks to the antimicrobial properties of the Ortholite® insole, the foot is always fresh, even after many hours. Sneakers are made with rubber soles, lace-up closure and ivory upper in synthetic materials. The design that shows the logo on the tongue and both sides make the shoe an accessory to wear non-stop.
adidas Originals’ total look
The iconic sneakers can be combined with women’s adidas Originals track jackets and tracks suits. The garments are available in different colours and give a touch of 70s elegance to the outfit, becoming trendy and comfy. The Superstars, in particular, are perfect with the Heritage beige tracksuit in recycled stretch fabric. It’s a fresh item featuring a front zip fastening, ribbed cuffs and hem. This combination creates a trendy, glamorous, and confident outfit.
adidas Originals’ testimonial
Gloria Marinelli, a footballer who plays for Inter and Italy women's national football team, is the adidas testimonial that, in January 2022, signed a three-year contract with the brand. The young footballer said she’s “thrilled to be chosen and join this big family.” After the pandemic, the brand started to invest in women’s sportswear: a big sign of confidence and desire to come back in great style.
