Six ways to wear a scarf for Spring Summer 2019

Give a twist to your looks! Discover how to wear a scarf, the latest fashion trend for Spring Summer 2019

The scarf is back in trend for Spring Summer 2019, in its most varied forms, colors and patterns. That's why we decided to share with you six ways on how to wear it. Whether it's a vintage piece or the latest collection, this accessory is an item that can really make a change to the look. But let's take a step back, because its history is really interesting.

Some fun facts about the scarf

At the beginning of the 20th century it was called 'silk scarf' because it was a simple fabric used to protect us from the wind or rain. It had a purely practical function. Everything changes when in 1937 Robert Dumas, Hermès's partner and son-in-law, suggests customizing these scarves. Immediately this fabric is treated like a painter's canvas. After the first carré (90x90 centimetri) (90x90 cm) of the French fashion house, other fashion houses follow the example, like Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo and Gucci.

Elegant creations, superfine and always different in style, in the '50s we witnessed the 'boom' of the scarf that became one of the most loved accessories by women in that time. The movie industry influenced a lot with actresses like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. We should also mention Queen Elizabeth II, who never abandoned the scarf. She pulled it out with the wind, rain and snow, to keep her hair in place and not get cold! It has always been a valuable ally of the crown and it's cleverly knotted under the chin with a beautiful bow. Among rare pieces and latest models (recently seen with Gucci and Burberry), we know that Elizabeth II has a weak spot for this accessory.

How to wear a scarf

After a few samples of the festival, we saw a decisive return of the scarf on the catwalk. A clear example is the parade of the young talent Richard Quinn, a true multicolor and contemporary tribute to this accessory. The Versace catwalk is more nostalgic with foulard print dresses that made us relive all the energy of the '80s and '90s.

It's time we finally show it off, enough of knotting it the right way to give a twist to the look, instead:
1. Place it on your neck and leave it open on the front to create movement.
2. Knot it in a modern basic bag to give it character.
3. If small, a little more than a clutch, tie it to the ankle instead of the anklet.
4. Put it on your head like a durag (or a bandana).
5. Fold it several times, to create a long and rather narrow fabric: use it instead of a band or a small circle.
6. Use it instead of the hair clip to give a twist to the ponytail or the bun.
