The real coat for women was made around the1800s, as a variation of the male model. Italy carried out a fundamental task in the creation of a similar item of clothing, the 'doglietta'. With comfortable lines and a loose fit, it was composed of silk and often adorned with a fur collar and sleeves to make it more elegant. Gradually, the idea of the coats and outerwear was taken up by great designers, who made it the centerpiece of their fashion collections. Year after year, fashion evolved and as a result the stylistic preference by commercial demand also changed. Women wanted to feel protected and warm without abandoning style. Numerous variants of the outerwear and the classic coat with soft lines proposed in the1800s followed, each of which was characterized by a specific style. Materials used were varied, from wool to silk and the most advanced technical fabrics of recent years.
