The history of women's parkas

From waterproof to cotton, parkas are essential items during the cold seasons. The original parkas worn in the wilds of Canada had a coarser shape and looked a lot like our anoraks today. These were made with animal skins, which in addition to keeping warm, were waterproof and suitable for outdoor life. In these villages, parkas were also used to identify the social status of its citizens, for example lining and finishing the hood or neckline with fur was a sign of wealth. In 1951, however, the parka was used by soldiers during the Korean War. It had a cord in the hem that allowed it to be tied around the legs to trap more heat, a feature that we can still find today in some modern parkas. We can begin to see this coat worn in the streets of cities, around the 50s and 60s with the Mod movement, made up of modern jazz fans. These were characterized by a unique and particular style, in fact they were inspired by military clothing enriching it with pins and patches. Women's parkas can be worn in various ways and have a more or less sober style, according to our tastes.
