Balenciaga Men's collection

Founded in Spain in 1917 by Cristóbal Balenciaga and later relocated to Paris in 1937, the Maison has always been known for its pioneering approach to fashion. While the designer has had many worthy successors, what has remained unchanged is the desire to experiment and the passion for sculpted volumes and the rigorous modernity of its lines. Over time, Balenciaga has moved closer to street culture, reinterpreting the couture silhouettes once beloved by the fashion elite. The menswear collections feature clean, forward-thinking cuts, defined shapes and a refined balance of innovation and sophistication.

Balenciaga for Men

Cristobal Balenciaga was born in 1895 in Spain: in 1917 he opened his first boutique in honour of his mother Elisa, but in the 1930s he was forced to move to Paris due to the Civil War. However, this sorrowful episode proved to be a turning point in his career, as it was in the French capital that he met instant success and became popular with the public and buyers. His style remained cutting edge and ambitious, worlds apart from his colleagues: Balenciaga loved loose-fitting and fluid designs with large shoulders and oversize volumes, as in the iconic Cocoon coat, puffball skirts and Sack dress. Instead of starting with drawings and models, the designer worked directly on the fabric and it was from actual offcuts that he created his wedding dresses and haute couture outfits, just like a sculptor who chisels a statue. After the death of the designer in 1972, the brand took on a number of creative directors with varying success until the arrival of Alexander Want who injected the team with a spark of youthful energy until his departure in 2015. Demna Gvasalia is the current creative director at Balenciaga, cleverly mixing elegance and contemporary design, outsize volumes and urban streetwear looks. Today’s must-have Balenciaga items.

Designer belts and accessories for men

Balenciaga accessories stand out for being sporty yet suave at the same time, for the man who cares about attention to detail. Military and camouflage patterns reign supreme, for true fashion warriors. The Balenciaga man cannot renounce some hi-tech details like the belt bag, cap and Army rucksack, all in varying shades of camouflage - from green to black and white, or total black.

Balenciaga shoes for men

The Speed Sneaker is the iconic Balenciaga trainer, aerodynamic and streamlined, with a chunky sole and strong contrasting colour scheme. You can choose from minimal chic or neutral shade soles, or the logo-ed versions with neon and high-energy colours. The Triple S is another iconic Balenciaga model, again for the man who wants to stand out from the crowd. The Strike boot perfectly combines a Beatles’ Chelsea Boot effect with cosmonaut style thanks to the thick and chunky sole, for a perfect avant-garde fashion-forward spaceman look. Perfect with wide-legged trousers, tight at the ankles, these boots are ideal for a trendy hipster effect. For those who prefer a classic sneaker, Balenciaga’s low-top trainers come in many colours, with a minimalist design. And the collection of course includes leather loafers, low-cut Derby shoes and smart lace-ups.

Balenciaga Bags for Men

The bigger the size, the more it’s Balenciaga: this is the motto for the men’s ‘handbag’ - a city bag that resembles more a beach bag thanks to its colourful lines but perfect for use dodging through the city traffic and crowds. In the Balenciaga bag collection, we also find practical sports bags with a simple military look

Designer trousers for men

The Balenciaga Menswear 2022 collection is distinguished by its oversize dimensions, destructured and modular items almost reminiscent of sculptures. Balenciaga also stands out for its perfect combination of minimal and essential design, Oriental-style, with the typical groove of the West and cars, always on the move. A little Futurist, a little Fauves, without ever forgetting the patterned and primordial colours of Paul Gauguin: this is the style of a brand that is still today riding the wave of the hottest new trends.
