When creating a styling mood board, research is fundamental; where do you usually start from?
It always depends on the project. I try to harness the characters, place and time - similar to working like a director on a film. Who are they and what’s the background and inspiration. I like to try to build a world around the story and communicate it through imagery. I am always very inspired by film, art, architecture, pop culture, and photography.
What has been your greatest challenge during pandemic and how did you manage your work?
Working remotely as a stylist is very difficult since our job is very hands on. Without the help of our amazing nanny, it took some getting used to for my husband and I to juggle our 15 month old son Stone and our jobs both full time.
What is your fashion decade and why
Hard question! I love the decadence of the late 70’s: the era of Studio 54 Glamour and Helmut Newton.
Which color or fabric represents you the most?
I would say: white and black hues. I love the purity and freshness of white, and the danger and darkness of black. Both are mysterious, powerful, and beautiful colors.
You’ve dressed many angels, from Gigi Hadid to Elsa Hosk, who’s the celebrity you’d like to dress in the near future?
I would love to collaborate on something with Kate Moss, Zoe Kravitz, and Hunter Schafer.
What’s your off-duty uniform?
White t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, and I can’t leave my house without my YSL aviators.
How can ‘femininity’ be translated into an outfit
‘Femininity’ isn’t about an outfit. It's a mood a mindset and a vibe. Anyone can have it and embrace it. It’s about confidence.
How can you find the correct balance between what you like and ones’ personal style and identity?
It’s about working together as a team and challenging each other. I always embrace someone’s personal style and identity. After all this is who they are! I am not here to change them, but enhance who they already are.
Cut-out dresses: which to choose to enhance one’s body and shapes?
I love Saint Laurent, Christopher Esber, The Attico and Jacquemus for this trend !!
“Only wear clothes that make you feel alive” states Valentino; which clothes in particular make you feel alive?
I agree! I feel my best in looks that make me feel confident and beautiful. Saint Laurent, The Attico, Alexander Vauthier and Bottega Veneta - they all make me feel that way.
Bags: what’s the greatest passe-partout?
The Mini Cleo by Prada or the Hermes Birkin !
What makes your styling recognizable among the others that do your same job?
We are all unique!! My style embraces the glamour, luxury, and the power of the individual. I love street style and the 90’s era too; so style for me is about having fun and staying true to yourself, and constantly challenging your own creativity.
Swimwear: what are the top picks for this Spring Summer 2022?
I love a classic high waisted bottom. Feels very French. I also always opt for pieces from Tropic of C that are by my good friend Candice.
Corsets: how to wear them to be feminine yet chic?
Designers are coming out with some very modern versions of the corset. I like to style them with trousers or miniskirts.
Very peri is the new color of the season; but how to wear and match it with others?
I love the very peri in a full pant suit or mixed with neutrals and worn as an accessory!
What would you teach to young generations starting your same job?
I would say always follow your heart and your dreams. Remember that anything is possible with hard work, honesty, authenticity, and persistence - the sky is the limit. The journey isn’t easy but it is exciting and rewarding.
