A tribute to Virgil Abloh
Virgil Abloh: streetwear innovator and brilliant Creative Director
Virgil Abloh left us too soon. In the last two years he fought a personal battle hiding his health conditions and always grinding something new within the fashion system. A rare form of cancer took him away but no one can take him away from what the Off-White Creative Director has done to revolutionize the new era’s fashion industry.
Known as the Midas King of fashion, he understood the desires of the new generations: he arrived by chance in the fashion system as he had a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology. The music and the friendship with Kanye West were instead the engine of a new fashion language that has been able to surprise even the established international fashion houses.
His ability to interpret tradition with a unique and contemporary eye has become easily in tune with the new generations who reciprocated with the sold-out of his several capsule collections. On TheDoubleF, his name was the first to be chosen to start a series of collaborations with new international talents. A jacket, a hoodie, a long-sleeved sweatshirt, a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, make up the minimal streetwear drop designed by Virgil Abloh for us. An explosive and unique collection that sums up his vision and that now more than ever we are proud to have shared with the designer who has inexorably left a void in contemporary creativity.
Goodbye Virgil Abloh, we’ll miss you.
