New colors for Nike Dunk sneakers of the new 2021 collection

Nike Dunk sneakers count more than 30 years of history and today’s focus is on their 2021 new colors.

If the chromatic palette introduces seasonal shades, these sneakers hide a fascinating background concerning two different realities: the footwear and the sport.

Let’s go back to 1985, when the launch of this iconic Nike took place. The same year the Air Jordan model was introduced, and both are consequence of Peter Moore’s creativity, top designer of the Beaverton brand, that’s why some features are shared by the two of them.

Few know that they were originally identified as College Color High, considering that the model was intended for high-school players, where the color combination of different NCAA teams affiliated with Nike could come to life on the model. During the creation process everything changed, Peter Moore decided to change the name after being inspired by the slum-dunks air launches.

At the time, the slogan of the advertising spot was “Be true to your school”, to underline the connection with the college basketball but the destiny was going to be different because the Dunk sneakers will conquer the skate community while the Air Jordan the basketball one.

To mark the entrance was Stacy Peralta, one of the legendary Z Boys, who chose them to act in a movie appreciating the grip on the deck and on the floor for a better and improved performance.

Afterwards the most popular skaters will help Nike by giving some tips to improve its sneakers performance like the big tongue or a thicker insole to tone down the impact on the floor during falls.

That’s how the legendary Nike Dunk were born.
