Men's designer loafers
An elegant shoe par excellence, the loafer continues to amass success amongst fashion lovers. Its lines and classic materials are in fact synonymous with elegance and poise.
The history of men's loafer
Loafers were invented in by North American Indians who gave them the name penny loafer. More specifically, rather than the shoe we know today, penny loafers comprised of bandages of soft leather that perfectly covered the sides of the feet. An unusual peculiarity is that, in the language used by the Native Americans, the translation of the word shoe is loafer. A version decidedly similar to that model was introduced to the world of fashion only after 1932 when the American family Spaulding, that specialized in making footwear, started selling a new model inspired by the milkers in Norway, similar to an unusual type of Lappish shoe. In 1936 the company GH Bass created the Weejun Loafer, although this model was not very successful as it was compared to classic slippers. Subsequently, during the Forties, it was the famous American dancer Fred Astaire who wore the so-called loafers during one of his tap dancing shows. Only when the look started to catch on with the university students of that decade did the loafer officially become part of the world of fashion. Today, it is this element of glamor used by elegant men that love sophisticated looks, but also by anyone who loves dressing in a casual manner. In fact, one of the peculiarities of this shoe is its extreme versatility. So, anyone can try a loafer suited to their and their tastes.
