Menswear SS26: Francisco Faria Breaks Down the Trends Spotted at Milan Fashion Week

Menswear SS26: Francisco Faria Breaks Down the Trends Spotted at Milan Fashion Week
23/06/25

Between luxe pajamas and ultra-short shorts, Francisco Faria decodes the SS26 menswear season with sharp intuition.

During Milan’s menswear fashion week, the fast-paced rhythm of the shows didn’t faze Francisco Faria, in fact, it sharpened his focus. A creative consultant and globally recognized street style figure, Francisco observes, absorbs, and reinterprets fashion with an instinctive, contemporary, and deeply personal perspective. He’s not just there to be photographed: he’s there to read the signs and anticipate what we’ll all be craving in the seasons to come. We caught up with him in between outfit changes and front rows to talk silhouettes, colors, fabrics, and the new wave of style freedom. The result? A vivid, insightful account that takes us from luxe loungewear to ‘80s nostalgia and shorts so short they defy any dress code. Spoiler: the SS26 wardrobe is freer than you think.

For Francisco, Spring Summer 2026 is all about a balance of fluidity and structure. Dolce & Gabbana embraced soft, luxe pajama sets, while Emporio Armani channeled a subtle East-meets-West vibe with billowy, Aladdin-style trousers. But one piece ruled above all: the micro short, a must-have that popped up everywhere, nowhere more memorably than at Prada, where they evoked vintage snapshots of Francisco’s father in the ‘80s, a decade clearly woven into the season’s DNA.

Gender fluidity 2.0: The wardrobe as a shared space

Gender fluidity isn’t a new topic, but according to Francisco, it’s evolving into something more organic and effortless. Clothes once designed for one gender now seamlessly move across identities. "It’s amazing to see how a piece meant for women can look just as cool on men. I often share pieces with my girlfriend, my best friend... even my mom!" The wardrobe becomes less an ideological stance than a shared and expressive playground.

Colors and patterns: precision, yes, but with personality

Color-wise, the “uniform” trend persists, but transforms. Francisco calls it “uniforms in multiform,” as neutrals and pastels are offset by bright, playful accents that bring energy to even the most polished looks. That same balance plays out in the patterns dominating the runways: stripes and florals, with a strong preference for the former, “they elongate the silhouette and give a crisp, pulled-together feel.”

When it comes to accessories, two standouts caught Francisco’s eye: the micro shorts and playful “ice cream jackets”, pop pieces perfect for injecting irony into any outfit. And then there were the mysterious hats at Prada: “I still don’t know what they were made of, but the craftsmanship was mind-blowing.”

Getting ready for fashion week: between wellness and authenticity

How does one mentally and physically gear up for fashion week? “I work out in the morning, take my vitamins, and try to enjoy myself. It’s easy to get caught up in the madness, but what matters most is staying true to yourself, even when it comes to style.”

SS26 Fashion: an invitation to play (and share)

lending irony with instinct, nostalgia with experimentation, Francisco Faria’s take on SS26 menswear is an open invitation to play with your wardrobe, and maybe borrow a piece from someone close, be it a partner, a friend, or even your mom. Because in the end, the most interesting fashion is always the kind you share.
