Fashion changes, trends change and so the dress code does. Catwalks have always defined the ongoing society and after 2 years of pandemic, what we can say is that the entire fashion system has been clearly upset. This happened as well into men’s wardrobes, after years of streetwear vs gentleman, a very 90s mood is finally reflected back with the Spring 2022 outfits.
Less boyish and more practical, men’s fashion brings new shapes, proportions and volumes already seen into TV Series like Beverly Hills 90210, Friends and Dawson’s Creek. No tight fit, nor reminiscent of business but a normcore look and wide sizes to describe a casual aesthetic. And so the shirts are back with a squared cut and short sleeves, the bermuda shorts are soft and pants are long and wide, while sweatshirts and down jackets are an everyday must. The aesthetic stratifies but always using just the essentials (we’ll wear the shirt together with the t-shirt, the down vest with the jacket).
Regarding the accessories, designers propose chunky sandals, sneakers, bucket hats and bags borrowed by the utility world. The choice of the materials remains the key, the best technologies are used to enhance the performance, to refresh or protect from water, while the nylon is proposed in a renewed key to show the contemporary men’s evolution.
