It's holiday party time
For one whole month we get to celebrate life's gifts, spend time with loved ones and reflect on the year we've experienced while focusing our gaze on the one in arrival.
That being said friends, December and January call for a small closet of dedicated outfits. It's a period where you can experiment with color, patterns and texture, and embrace the season's most glamorous moods. Let's consider some of my favorite styles.
The ugly sweater
You grimace. Yes, it's a silly tradition but after a year of working hard and juggling your various obligations, why not indulge in the lightness of the season by putting on something so hilariously unattractive, you cause laughter everywhere you go? ‘Tis the season to be jolly after all.
Cocktail dresses galore
As I've mentioned over the past few months in this column, I adore a great cocktail dress. Sexy, minimal, conceptual - I love them all. And, Christmas is the perfect time to break out the boldest most ornate styles. Whether jewel toned in satin or silk, or breathtaking in paillette or sequins storms - the more you look like a Christmas tree ornament, or a present, the better.
Cozy knits
Big gorgeous cozy knits to wrap yourself in and luxuriate by the tree, or to wear while lighting the menorah with your family. Grab a tea, spiced coffee, hot chocolate with artisanal marshmallows or a pinot noir and let the holiday joy wash over you.
Tartan or plaid
Anything tartan or plaid really gets me in the mood. Be it trousers or a great skirt, wear checks to brunches, musical concerts and especially to ice skate under the magical Christmas lights.
The evening dress
The evening dress or other formal attire. Ladies if you love a big dramatic gown, New Year's Eve is your moment. Live it up, order up the fluff, pair it with a veiled hat. Be the true queens you are! Or rather, I knew it, you are more of a trouser kind of woman. There are gorgeous jumpsuits and tuxedo style suits to make your statement in. Also super chic for elegant events are elevated pajama styles, trust me you will stand out - and the bonus is that you can jump straight into bed as soon as you get home.
And last but not least, a great big SMILE.
