Chic, elegant and cosmopolitan. The perfect schedule and suitcase for St. Moritz
St. Moritz is one of the most loved ski destinations by international stars Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, John Lennon and Gianni Agnelli. all fell in love with it. A fascinating place thanks to the natural scenery, famously described by the illustrious hand of William Augustus Brevoort Coolidge.
The view of the mountains is enchanting and extends to the Swiss Alps, in the Canton of Grisons: over 7,000 km of slopes for alpine skiing, 5,500 km of cross-country trails, snowshoe trails (2,300 km) and walks (5,150 km) of all difficulties and 250 ski areas.
Not only is it the place to be for expert skiers: it is an exclusive location, ideal for couples, families and groups of friends. Other than the extraordinary ski runs (for the experts we suggest the Diavolezza, with red and black slopes), St. Moritz has a lot to offer for those who aren’t up for sports and just want to spend a charming holiday in the snow.
The homonymous frozen lake is the crux of various activities, like the historic horse race that as lasted for over 100 years. With the cable car you can reach Piz Nair, a town in the center where you can enjoy the breathtaking views. When it comes to culture, amongst what’s on offer you can find the St Moritz Design Gallery, open all year round, 24 hours a day, and the Museo Segantini, dedicated to the famous pointillist painter who lived in the Engadine area.
We must add the exclusive shopping experience in via Serlas ( corresponding to Via Montenapoleone in Milan) and the distinctive Caffè Hanselmann, well known for their fine selection of chocolate and coffee, much loved by Thomas Mann and Coco Chanel.
So, what should you cpack in your suitcase for a week on the slopes? Other than your ski kit, complete with boots, goggles and technical jackets, we recommend wearing beautiful and warm shearling, thigh-high boots and soft, high-neck sweaters. For the evening, you can copy Chanel’s look from the runway: après-ski combined with warm long skirts in masculine fabrics and elegant shirts in silk voile. For him, it’s best to focus on the velvet jackets and polo necks in refined cashmere.
