Autry for Women
Autry was founded in the early 80s in Texas, as a manufacturer of sneakers which soon became iconic must-haves around the world. However, the sport’s shoes with the American flag, as they are known, had to surrender to giants Nike and Reebok, and the company closed down production, seemingly for good. But then, in 2019, the brand was relaunched by a couple of French designers Alberto Raengo and Régis Billard, long-term fans of the U.S. shoes who decided to rev up production lines again, convinced of the success of their European know-how applied to U.S. tastes. The result is a vintage-style sneaker inspired by the “less is more” philosophy - a minimalist design for a unisex shoe (although there are both male and female collections) that perfectly matches any outfit. Autry has found its own space in the world of fashionable sportswear, with a highly respectable past and a surely brilliant future.

What is the difference between a tennis shoe and a sneaker? The secret lies in the sole, in natural rubber. For die-hard fans, there’s the fleece with the all-over frontal U.S. flag and Autry lettering at the top. For those who instead prefer a more serious total black or white look, there is the option of the jumpsuit with the brand name barely visible at the edges. These are very chic jumpsuits that are not necessarily just for the afternoon stroll: matched with a pair of the brand’s sneakers, they can be transformed for an inexplicably smart look despite their casual nature. Among the accessories, cotton socks carry the U.S. flag customised in black on white or gold on black, super-chic when peeping out from under the trousers.
