Martine Rose founded her eponymous men’s line in London in 2007 and has since evolved to international fame. Its innate authenticity and modernity have helped to create collections that retain their underground cult credentials. Martine Rose is inspired by her Jamaican British origins and her deep interest and personal involvement in London's high / low melting-pot music and cultures. Martine Rose's unique aesthetic is informed by an investigation into proportions and silhouettes, striking textures and fabrics, and fluid references to subcultural contexts. There is always a tension between attraction and resistance to men's clothing codes.
