What is the Old Money style?
As the name suggests, 'old money' refers to a privileged social class that has literally inherited its wealth (and popularity); it didn’t earn it but was born into affluence (or married into it). This group includes British or Monegasque royals as well as the children of entrepreneurs. However, they share a certain fashion sense that is detached from fleeting trends, as it retreats into the classic. Of course, everything is made with fine yarns and fabrics in the most neutral colors possible.
This society has undoubtedly studied at prestigious universities around the world, and for this reason, we find various references to the college world: a navy blazer or cardigan, pleated skirts, and loafers. There are also sports elements borrowed from the equestrian world, very royal, or tennis, belonging to a bourgeois class with tickets to Wimbledon in their pockets. Everything appears tailored, everything is impeccable. Perfect.
This doesn’t mean, however, that the Old Money style is only for wealthy heirs: it can be replicated in an affordable way and, by its nature, thanks to that reassuring feeling it evokes, it is ideal for returning from vacation. Serious enough but simple in execution, this way of dressing can adapt to the everyday life of someone who goes to the office every morning and doesn’t want to wear overly rigid suits. And for what it represents, Old Money makes the dream accessible to everyone. Even if you're not a Kennedy or a Rockefeller.
