Spring Summer 2024 strongest trends seen at Milan Fashion Week

Spring Summer 2024 strongest trends seen at Milan Fashion Week

A fashion that reimagines the codes of the 'rich look' at Milan Fashion Week, amidst the colors and trends of spring-summer 2024.

As Milan Fashion Week comes to a close, the strongest fashion trends that we will soon see in our wardrobes are already taking shape. For the spring-summer 2024 season, we are witnessing the emergence of the 'rich look.' Designers are defining a new aesthetic language for the essence of being or appearing wealthy. Already prevalent on TikTok, the codes are no longer explicit, and logos are no longer used as statements of social status. Instead, minimalistic pieces and the use of color are defining the new concept of luxury.

The classics are being rediscovered in all their forms: loafers and derby shoes appear on the runway with mini-skirts and pants, while tote bags are making a comeback to accommodate busy women navigating various commitments. The classic white shirt finds a new place of honor; it is white, spacious, but not necessarily oversized, expertly constructed, and worn with casual elegance, often left open to drape effortlessly.

The return of 1990s fashion comes through clean lines: cigarette pants, pencil skirts with deep slits, and jackets that return to being tailored and sleek. The choice of outerwear is central, with oversized jackets that seem to have been borrowed from a grandfather's wardrobe and trench coats that appear as a revelation. Moreover, the idea is to wear them on their own, transforming each jacket into a dress.

The 'maxi' above is contrasted with the 'micro' below: ultra-short hems that showcase the legs thanks to 1960s-style dresses that skim the hips, and shorts that resemble culottes. Also intriguing are the petite versions of suits: custom-tailored tailored suits, as well as sorbet-patterned pajama sets that anticipate the desire for summer.

Shoes transform the feet into a true fetish: playing with geometries, cuts, and straps that reveal only the necessary. This is how the most sensual part of the body shifts from the legs... to the feet.

Finally, the colors: lots of white and black, with hints of gray that come to life through pinstriped fabric, while delicate blush pink resurfaces alongside apple green, used primarily in the voile and silk satin versions. Last but not least, the deep red, which has become the symbolic color of the 'rich look'.
