Far from pretentious, its appeal lies precisely in the idea of “simple pleasures,” which invite us to enjoy the small joys of life - everyday gestures that make us feel good, like a morning coffee or meeting a friend. Soft and relaxing, rich yet gentle, Mocha Mousse corresponds to the Pantone color code 17-1230. It sits between chocolate and coffee beans, with a hint of milk (or even cream), creating a shade that is perfectly neutral. That’s its strength: it can always be worn, just like white.
“The Pantone Color of the Year 2025 responds to our need for warmth” explains Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “This nuance evokes pleasure and sweetness, aiming to create an atmosphere of harmony and well-being, reflecting the desire for a deeper connection with the natural world.” This definition aptly characterizes the Pantone color of 2025, setting it almost in contrast to Peach Fuzz, which defined this year.
“The ongoing pursuit of harmony influences every aspect of our lives, including our relationships, work, social interactions, and the natural environment around us” she continues. “Harmony brings with it feelings of fulfillment, inspiring a positive state of inner peace, calm, and balance, as well as a connection with the world around us.”
We’ve already seen it this year on Instagram, where socialites and influencers posted their outfits in various shades of brown, ranging from chestnut to café au lait (the latter very similar to Mocha Mousse). They paired classic fabrics with soft textures like suede, which will be a standout material next year. Designers have also picked up on this trend, as seen in runway looks such as The Attico’s Spring Summer 2025 total-color collection. Prada has anticipated the most delightful color combo: Mocha Mousse paired with frappe pink.
