5 trends seen at Paris Fashion Week FW 2024

At Paris Fashion Week, femininity is celebrated amid transparencies and sculptural silhouettes, alongside the refinement of the capsule wardrobe. Here are the trends to know and wear:

Paris Fashion Week concludes with the celebration of Nicolas Ghesquière's 10 years at Louis Vuitton, while The Row sends a strong message by urging guests not to use their phones during the show – perhaps the most 'quiet luxury' moment we've experienced in the last 5 years. Curious details grace the runways, such as Denise Ohnona (the Kate Moss look-alike model seen by Marine Serre) or Alexander McQueen's sculptural mini dress by Séan McGuirr. But what will we wear? That is the real question – what are the strongest trends we witnessed on the catwalk? The answer is here, in 5 points:

1 The bag to buy

Stella McCartney emphatically underscores that we can no longer postpone the environmentalist approach. To emphasize this concept, she opens the show with the moving voice of Olivia Colman reciting the Manifesto on behalf of Mother Earth. Although the designer introduces nothing entirely new stylistically and instead draws from her own essence, the message is clear: it's time to think and act differently. A collection that speaks directly to women, with an unequivocal warning: it's time to act. Impeccable in its commitment and consistent with its stylistic line, the iconic Falabella bag from the winter of 2009 graces the runway.

2 A return to total black

A true statement by Pierpaolo Piccioli: if white marked Valentino's couture collections, black defines the pre-à-porter ones. The Le noir collection is a celebration of the total black look, not austere and strict, but touching on all shades of femininity, including the veiled allure of see-and-not-see.

3 Pantless

A strange trend of going without skirts or pants that has already gone viral on international runways since September 2022 is now a more concrete reality proposed by various designers. Among them is Coperni, who, in addition to making headlines with a bag made 99% of air, showcases bodysuits worn as dresses, while legs are covered only by sheer tights.

4 Austere

Miuccia Prada takes the stage with a collection that celebrates the uniform: lab coats and outfits reminiscent of nurses' attire. Many everyday garments, but presented in a Milanese context, featuring ugly chic combinations that carry a sense of memory. The austerity of the midi hem is counterbalanced by the use of bright and vibrant colors that adorn almost every midi, even an ultra-feminine sheath dress.

5 Free the nipple

Whether it's the transparencies we've seen in recent years, with dresses and skirts often paired with colorful tights and bodysuits for a refined layering game – Saint Laurent celebrates the breast, creating transparent voile tops that bare the naked breast. Very little is left to the imagination...
